Record voice or audio from your microphone right in the browser

The recording stays on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server

About this voice recorder

This is an online voice recorder that runs entirely in the browser. Tap 'Allow microphone', grant permission, start recording, then save the result as MP3 or WAV. No apps, no extensions, no sign-up.

Recording uses the MediaRecorder API in webm/opus, and on download the file is decoded with the Web Audio API and re-packed into MP3 (via lamejs) or lossless WAV. Pause and resume are supported, and a live waveform shows the input as you record.

All audio data stays on your device — not a single byte is sent to a server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and confirm the recorder still works locally. No watermarks, no ads inside the audio, no caps on how many recordings you can make.

Where it helps

Voice message to a colleague

Quickly record a voice note and share it as a file via email, a messenger or Telegram — without opening the camera or installing a voice-message app.

Audio note on the go

An idea, a thought, a shopping list — dictate it into the recorder in one tap, download the MP3 and send it to your cloud or favourites.

Pronunciation for a lesson

Record words and phrases in a foreign language for homework, listening practice, or your own pronunciation cheat sheet.

Interview from your device

Record an interview, lecture or meeting through your laptop or phone, then export to WAV for further editing or transcription.

FAQ

How do I allow microphone access?

Tap the '🎙 Allow microphone' button — the browser will show a system dialog. Choose 'Allow'. If you accidentally tapped 'Block', click the lock icon next to the address bar → 'Site settings' → enable the microphone and reload the page. On iPhone the site must be served over HTTPS — otherwise iOS won't show the dialog.

Which format is the recording saved in?

You can download as MP3 (128/192/256/320 kbps — your choice) or WAV (16-bit PCM, lossless). Internally the browser records in webm/opus via MediaRecorder, but on save the file is re-packed into the format you pick — so no stray webm files in your downloads.

Is the recording uploaded to a server?

No, everything is local. The microphone capture goes straight into the tab's memory, MP3 encoding (lamejs) and WAV assembly run in the browser. Not a single audio byte leaves the page. Close the tab and the recording is gone — so download promptly.

What's the maximum recording length?

It's limited by the tab's memory. On a regular laptop you can comfortably record an hour or more; on a phone usually 30 minutes and up. Before a long session, do a quick test recording to confirm everything works.

Can I record system audio?

Not with a plain microphone recorder. Capturing system audio requires the Screen Capture API with an explicit audio-enabled source, and support is patchy (on iOS it's not available at all). The simplest workaround for app audio is to route it to a speaker near the mic — or use a virtual audio cable on the desktop.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes — Chrome and Safari on Android, plus Safari on iOS, all support MediaRecorder and Web Audio. On iOS the site must be on HTTPS and the user must tap 'Allow microphone' first; iOS does not allow background recording without a user gesture.
