BIN Lookup — Find Bank and Card Type by Number

Paste the first 6–8 digits of a card and instantly see the issuing bank, payment system (Visa, Mastercard, Mir), country and card type. Works offline in your browser.

Enter at least 6 digits — that's all that's needed to identify the bank and payment system.

About BIN Lookup

BIN (Bank Identification Number) is the first 6–8 digits of any bank card. They encode the payment system (Visa starts with 4, Mastercard with 51–55 or 2221–2720, Mir with 2200–2204) and the issuing bank. Knowing the BIN you can verify which bank a transfer is going to and whether the card belongs to a particular network.

This tool runs entirely in your browser — your card number is never sent anywhere. It works offline and is safe to use with any card.

How to find the bank by card number

  1. 1. Type or paste the card number — even the first 6 digits is enough.
  2. 2. Instantly see the payment system, issuing bank, country and card type.
  3. 3. If the full PAN is entered, the tool also runs a Luhn check to detect typos.

How BIN ranges work

Every payment system has a reserved range of starting digits (IIN — Issuer Identification Number, defined by ISO/IEC 7812). Within that range each bank gets its own block of 6-digit BINs.

Main ranges:

  • 4xxxxx — Visa
  • 51–55xxxx / 2221–2720xx — Mastercard
  • 2200–2204xxMir (Russia)
  • 34xxxx, 37xxxx — American Express
  • 62xxxx — UnionPay
  • 3528–3589 — JCB

FAQ

Can I find out the full card details by BIN?

No. BIN reveals only the bank, payment system, country and card type (debit/credit). Cardholder name, balance or any personal data cannot be retrieved from the number — that information is not embedded in it.

Is it safe to enter my card number here?

Yes. The check happens locally in your browser, the number is not sent to any server. You can also enter just the first 6–8 digits — that's enough to identify the bank.

Why does the tool say "bank not in local database"?

We bundle a curated table of well-known BINs (mostly Russian banks and major international ones). Some smaller banks and recent BIN allocations may not be there. The payment system is always detected correctly because it follows a universal standard.

How is Visa different from Mastercard and Mir by number?

Visa always starts with 4, Mastercard with 51–55 or 2221–2720, Mir with 2200–2204. American Express starts with 34 or 37, UnionPay with 62, JCB with 35. These ranges are reserved by ISO/IEC 7812 and are the same worldwide.

Privacy

The card number is processed locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server. Lookup is done against an embedded BIN database.
