About the team generator

This tool helps you quickly split participants into teams — for games, training sessions, sports matches or school activities. Paste your list of people, choose how many teams to split them into, and get a ready random lineup in one click.

In “Balanced” mode participants are spread evenly: team sizes differ by at most one person. In “Fully random” mode each participant lands on a random team — sometimes the lineup turns out uneven, just like a real draw.

Everything runs right in your browser, nothing is sent to a server. Random picks use the built-in cryptographic random number generator, so results are fair and unrepeatable.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a group into 2 teams online?

Paste participant names into the “Participants” field — one per line, set “Number of teams” to 2 and click “Split”. The tool instantly shows two random teams of equal size.

Can I split into 3 or 4 teams?

Yes. In the “Number of teams” field you can set any number from 2 to 20. For example, to split into 3 teams, set it to 3 — the tool will divide your list into three roughly equal parts.

What's the difference between “Balanced” and “Fully random”?

In “Balanced” mode teams come out the same size (or differ by at most one person). In “Fully random” mode each participant lands on a random team — the lineup may be uneven, just like a real draw.

Are participant names stored anywhere on a server?

No. The whole process happens entirely in your browser: neither the participant list nor the split result is sent to a server. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.

How do I make a new random draw?

Once the teams are formed, click the “Reshuffle” button — the lineup is recalculated with the same participant list and number of teams, but with a fresh random distribution.
