About the online ZIP archiver

This online ZIP archiver lets you zip files into a single .zip right in your browser — no need to install WinRAR, 7-Zip or any other software. Drag and drop one or more files, optionally set an archive name, and click «Create ZIP archive». The ready ZIP downloads to your device in seconds. ZIP opens on any system — Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS — with built-in tools.

All files are processed locally on your computer: nothing is uploaded to a server or leaves the browser. That makes it safe to archive documents, photos, contracts and other personal data. You can bundle several different file types — say a photo, a PDF and a spreadsheet — into one compact ZIP to send by email or messenger.

The key feature is Windows-compatible filenames. With the CP866 option enabled, non-Latin names inside the archive are encoded the way the built-in Windows Explorer expects, so on extraction you see «Договор.pdf» instead of «Ð”оговор.pdf». This fixes the classic mojibake problem in ZIP files with Cyrillic names. For Latin-only archives or macOS/Linux you can disable the option to use UTF-8.

When the archiver helps

Send several files as one attachment

Bundle photos, documents and spreadsheets into a single ZIP so you can attach them to an email or message as one file instead of many.

Reduce the number of upload files

Many sites and forms accept only one file. Zip a folder of documents and upload the whole archive at once — to a portal, account or CRM.

Save space and bandwidth

ZIP with DEFLATE compression shrinks text documents, spreadsheets and logs. Photos and video compress little, but it is still handy to keep everything in one file.

Bundle personal documents safely

Archiving runs entirely in your browser, files never reach a server. Good for passports, contracts and scans you should not upload to third-party sites.

Frequently asked questions about the online archiver

How do I create a ZIP archive online for free?

Drop your files into the upload area, optionally set an archive name and click «Create ZIP archive». The file downloads automatically. The tool is completely free, with no sign-up and no watermarks.

Why do Cyrillic filenames turn into mojibake in ZIP on Windows?

It happens when names are stored as UTF-8 but Windows Explorer expects the OEM code page (CP866). Our archiver enables the «Windows-compatible filenames (CP866)» option by default, so Cyrillic extracts correctly — «Договор.pdf» instead of «Ð”оговор.pdf».

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Archiving runs right in your browser with JavaScript. Files never leave your device, so you can safely include personal documents.

How many files can I archive and what is the size limit?

There is no limit on the number of files. Size is limited only by your device's memory, since everything runs locally — a regular computer easily builds archives of hundreds of megabytes.

Will the ZIP open on macOS, Linux and mobile?

Yes. ZIP is a universal format and opens with built-in tools on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. If the archive is not for Windows, you can disable the CP866 option to write names in UTF-8.
