When the codec inside already suits the target container, we only swap the container — the wrapper around the video track. That takes seconds even for large clips and, more importantly, leaves the picture untouched: quality stays exactly as it was. Re-encoding kicks in only when there is no way around it, and the tool tells you honestly which of the two paths was used.
The file is processed in your browser on your own device and is never uploaded — not to our server, not anywhere else. On the first run the browser downloads the engine once (~32 MB) and takes it from cache afterwards.

Which formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM and WMV are accepted as input, and MP4, MOV, AVI and WebM are available as output. The most common directions have their own pages — MOV to MP4 or MKV to MP4, for example.
Will quality be lost?
It depends on the pair. If the codec inside suits the chosen container, only the wrapper changes and the picture is untouched. If it does not, the video is re-encoded — and the tool honestly shows which path was taken.
What is the maximum file size?
Aim for 500 MB. Processing happens in the browser tab's memory, so very large files can be too much for the device — a phone especially.
Is the video uploaded to a server?
No. The file is processed locally on your device and never transmitted, so personal recordings are safe to convert here.
Why is the first run slower?
On first use the browser downloads the conversion engine (~32 MB). After that it comes from cache and later conversions start immediately.
