Let's check your camera

Allow camera access — you'll see live video, resolution and frame rate. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.

Video is processed locally in your browser and never uploaded.

How the online webcam test works

An online camera check is what you need before a video call, an interview or a stream: confirm the camera works at all, pick the right device out of several, and judge the picture — resolution, frames per second and how you look on screen. Everything runs right in the browser, with nothing to install.

Once you grant access, the page connects to the camera via getUserMedia and shows live video. Next to it you see the stream's real parameters: resolution (e.g. 1280×720) and the measured frame rate. With multiple cameras — laptop built-in, external USB, virtual — you can switch between them on the fly and compare quality.

Privacy: the video stream lives only in the tab's memory — nothing is recorded or uploaded. The test snapshot is saved as a PNG straight to your device. Closing the tab or pressing "Finish test" releases the camera completely.

What the camera test checks

Live video and parameters

Resolution, FPS and aspect ratio are measured from the real stream, not the camera's spec sheet.

Multiple cameras

Switch between built-in, external and virtual cameras and compare the picture.

Test snapshot

Save a frame as PNG to check sharpness, lighting and colors before the call.

FAQ

Why does the browser ask for camera permission?

It's a mandatory security rule: no website can turn on your camera without consent. The permission applies only to this site and can be revoked anytime via the lock icon in the address bar.

It says "no camera found" or "camera busy" — what now?

"Not found" — check the camera is physically connected and enabled (many laptops have a shutter or an Fn hotkey). "Busy" — another app is using it: close Zoom, Teams, Skype, Discord or another video-call tab and run the test again.

How do I test the camera and microphone together?

Run this camera test first, then open our online microphone test — it has a live level meter and a record-and-playback check. Together they fully prepare you for a video call.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video stream exists only in your tab's memory and is processed locally in the browser — not a single frame is uploaded. The test snapshot is saved as a file straight to your device.

How do I know the camera works properly?

Three signs: live video appears without artifacts, the resolution matches expectations (1920×1080 for Full HD, 1280×720 for HD), and FPS stays around 30. Take a snapshot to judge sharpness and lighting.
