Fence Calculator
Calculate fence materials: posts, horizontal rails, panels, and hardware by site perimeter. Profnastil, picket, mesh fence types supported.
Total length of all fence sides in meters
Height of the fence panel in meters
Distance between posts, typically 2.5–3 m
Corrugated sheet, picket, or chain-link mesh
For profnastil C8 — 1.15 m, C20 — 1.10 m
Calculation formula
Posts = ⌈Perimeter / Spacing⌉ + 1; Rails = Perimeter × 2; Sheets = ⌈Perimeter / Panel width⌉
Two rows of rails — top and bottom. For pickets: board width 0.1 m + 0.05 m gap = 0.15 m step.
About the fence calculator
The fence calculator helps you quickly estimate the main materials needed to enclose a residential lot, country house, or private property: posts, horizontal rails, and either corrugated sheets, picket boards, or chain-link mesh rolls.
The calculation is based on the site perimeter and a 2.5–3 meter post spacing — the standard distance at which 40×20 mm profile pipe rails do not sag and the panel stays rigid under wind load.
All calculations run directly in your browser without sending data to a server. The result gives you a precise material list for budgeting fence cost and ordering supplies.

Accurate perimeter-based math helps avoid extra spending on materials
Frequently asked questions
How often should fence posts be installed?
The standard spacing is 2.5 meters, and 3 meters is the maximum. At larger distances 40×20 mm profile pipe rails start to sag and corrugated sheets flex in the wind. For windy locations, stick with 2.5 meters.
Strip foundation or post foundation under the fence?
A post foundation is enough for profnastil and picket fences: drill a 1–1.2 m hole and concrete the post. A strip foundation is only required for brick fences or sites with a steep slope — it costs 3–4 times more.
What's the difference between profnastil C8 and C20?
C8 has an 8 mm wave height and 1.15 m useful width — cheaper and lighter, good for fences up to 2 m. C20 has a 20 mm wave height and 1.10 m width — stiffer and quieter in the wind, better for taller fences and exposed sites.
How many rails does a fence need?
For fences up to 2 meters, two horizontal rails are enough — one near the bottom (20–30 cm above ground) and one near the top. For 2–2.5 m fences, add a middle rail for extra rigidity.
How many screws per corrugated sheet?
On average, 6–8 roofing self-tappers with a press washer (4.8×35 mm) per sheet — 3–4 per rail through every other wave. For exposed windy sites, use 8 screws per sheet.
Do I need an extra allowance for cutting?
The calculator already rounds up. It's still smart to add about +5% for corners and irregular sections — especially when the perimeter isn't a clean multiple of the corrugated sheet width.
