How to convert DOC to PDF
DOC is the legacy binary format used by Microsoft Word 97-2003. It still turns up in old archives, vintage email attachments, and files from retired office machines. Converting to PDF lets you open the document reliably on any modern device.
Upload the .doc file
Drag an old Word document from your archive or pick it from your computer — the file is processed over a secure connection.
Confirm the document
Double-check you've selected the right DOC file. Swap it for a different one if you uploaded the wrong document.
Get a modern PDF
Download the generated PDF — it opens in any browser, reader, or smartphone without needing Microsoft Word.
Why convert DOC to PDF
Rescues legacy archives
Old .doc files from early-2000s inboxes often won't open correctly in LibreOffice or modern online editors. PDF fixes this for good.
Readable without Word
After conversion the document opens in any browser, Adobe Reader, or mobile phone — Microsoft Office is not required at all.
Preserves Word 97-2003 layout
Fonts, margins, headers and tables from the legacy DOC format are carried over to PDF exactly as the original author intended.
Long-term archival
PDF is the international standard ISO 32000 and PDF/A — ideal for long-term storage of records, legal documents and archived correspondence.
Runs in your browser
No need to install legacy Office or hunt for third-party legacy-format converters — just drop the file into your browser window.
DOC to PDF FAQs
What's the difference between DOC and DOCX?
DOC is the binary format of Word 97-2003, while DOCX is the newer XML format introduced with Word 2007. If your file ends in .doc, it was created in the older version of Word.
Will very old DOC files from the 1990s work?
Yes. The service handles DOC documents going back to Word 6.0 and Word 95, so files from long-retired machines still convert without issues.
Are embedded images and tables preserved?
Yes — embedded pictures, tables, numbered and bulleted lists are all transferred to PDF with the same structure as in the original document.
Is it safe to convert confidential DOC files?
Files are sent over HTTPS and deleted from the server immediately after conversion — no one gains access to the contents of your documents.
