Stretch Ceiling Calculator

Calculate stretch ceiling installation: area, perimeter, profile. Approximate cost by canvas type.

м

Length of the room in meters

м

Width of the room in meters

Matte, glossy, or satin canvas

₽/м²

Canvas with installation cost per square meter

Calculation formula

S = Length × Width; P = 2 × (Length + Width); Cost = S × Price per m²

Ceiling area equals floor area, and perimeter equals the wall track length around the room. Total cost is the area multiplied by the per-square-meter price of the chosen canvas.

About the stretch ceiling calculator

The stretch ceiling calculator estimates the canvas area, the perimeter for the wall track, and the approximate installation cost. Enter the length and width of the room, choose the canvas type — matte, glossy, or satin — and enter the per-square-meter price quoted by your installer.

Ceiling area equals floor area, so no extra measurement is needed: the room footprint is enough. The perimeter helps you estimate aluminum or PVC track and masking strip, while the total cost lets you compare quotes from different studios and contractors.

All calculations run locally in your browser — no data is sent to a server. Use it free of charge and without sign-up to budget the renovation at the planning stage.

Frequently asked questions

How does a matte stretch ceiling differ from a glossy one?

Matte canvas looks like an evenly painted ceiling, doesn't reflect light, and works well in bedrooms and living rooms. Glossy canvas mirrors light and visually enlarges the space — a popular pick for small rooms, hallways, and bathrooms.

What is the maximum seamless roll width?

Standard PVC canvas is up to 3.2 m wide without a seam, while fabric ceilings can reach 5 m. If the room is wider, installers heat-weld panels with a clean joint that is barely visible when done correctly.

How long does installation take?

For a typical room up to 20 m² installation takes 3–5 hours and usually fits within a single day. You don't need to remove furniture — just pull it 30–50 cm away from the walls.

What are the downsides of stretch ceilings?

PVC canvas is vulnerable to sharp objects and low temperatures: below −5 °C it becomes brittle. A stretch ceiling also lowers the room by 3–7 cm to fit the track and recessed lights, which matters in apartments with low ceilings.

Should I add a reserve to the area?

The fabricator already builds in the trim allowance for the harpoon edge, so reserves are baked into the cut. The calculator returns the clean ceiling area — the same number installers multiply by their per-m² price.

What is included in the per-m² price?

The square-meter price typically covers the canvas itself and a standard installation with the wall track. Cutouts for chandeliers, recessed lights, pipe bypasses, and complex multi-level shapes are usually billed separately — confirm with your installer.
